  • How to convert mp4 to AVI in Windows

Posted on October 26th, 2008 admin No comments

I usually use Windows Movie Maker which is bundled with Microsoft Windows to edit video taken using my digital camera. It supports quite a number of video formats like AVI, WMV and so on. However, MP4 is not support in it so far.

Following is a free software I found recently for converting MP4 file into AVI file:

    Quick Media Converter

According to Quick Media Converter introduction, it enables users to convert between most audio and video formats, including AVI, DVD, Quicktime, Flash, Xvid, DivX, MPEG, MP3, WMA, MP4, 3GP and many others. Users can convert multiple files (of different formats) in a single process and optionally customize the output settings in Expert Mode.

  • Free Tuition, is it possible?

Posted on October 19th, 2008 admin No comments

Tuition for primary school and secondary school students is something that is very popular in Malaysia and Singapore. I am not sure if this service is also popular in other countries.

Many students benefited a lot through attending tuition offered by some very excellent teachers. I was not exception.

However, the cost for tuition is not cheap. It is considered one of the big expenses for some poor families.

Sometimes, I just wonder why after attending a long day study in school, students still need to attend tuition service. It is really tire … Is there something wrong with the education system … Anyway, I am not in any position to comment about this :)

  • Learning Chinese blogging

Posted on October 6th, 2008 admin No comments

Chinese language is my mother tongue. I speak Chinese (Mandarin, Teochew, Hokkien and so on). I write Chinese, I read Chinese. All these are natural to me. However, when come to Chinse computing, it is not something natural to me. I have been avoiding writing Chinese language using my computer for years … It is not really something that I can write easily using computer.

However, when I like to communicate with my friends from China, it is not so natural to write my email in English as English is still not a language that is commonly use in China.

After some thought and also encouragement of my friends, I have decided to start a Chinese blog and hope by maintaining a iTeochew I will write more often Chinese character using my computer. Hopefully by doing so, my Chinese writing using computer will improve gradually.

Joojen introduced Sogou pinyin input to me. This is really a very fast and good free Chinese pinyin software system. You may like to download and give it a try.

  • Web Hosting

Posted on August 3rd, 2008 admin No comments

Have been experiencing with web hosting for quite a number of years. Due to budget constraint, I have tried most of the free webhosting so far like Geocities, T35, AngelFire, Tripod and so on. There are sites which review and rate these services like FREE-WEBHOSTS.com. Overall it was a good start for any beginner to try to park their contents in the Internet. It is very valuable especially you do not have any budget for this. However, as you may know, there are some limitation on these free web hosting services. Most of the free them limit the size of disk space available to users. Some may have force advertisements. There is no free lunch so far :)
